Planespotting in Uzbekistan is legal and accessible to anyone with nearly no restrictions.
Legal basis for spotting in Uzbekistan are the two following documents:
- Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan β43 dated 26 January 2022 "On measures to create conditions for the developement of aircraft spotting"
- Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan βPP-3509 dated 06 February 2018 "On measures to develop inbound tourism" particularly part two of article 9
Highest traffic numbers can be seen at Tashkent Islam Karimov International airport (UZTT/TAS). Meanwhile traffic at new airport of business- and government aviation Tashkent Humo (Eastern) (UZTP/TVT) is very rare and unpredictable, landing and departure runways may be used randomly and not correspond to wind direction. Furthermore, there are no suitable locations near the airport and during VIP movements special safety measures are in place.

Tashkent airport's official viewing location
π: Official viewing location became public in late 2025, but project is still unfinished and a 1,5 meter-tall artificial elevation is planned to be expanded both in height and in area. Access path to the platform is not finished yet and reaching the platform may become an issue after precipitation due to mud.

π : Viewing location is opened at all times, but light poles make night filming harder. Location of the platform allows for filming from early morning almost until late evening all year round.

Tashkent airport's "Mound" spotting location
π: Mound near airport's perimeter which has enough height for filming aircrafts landing, taking off and taxing when runways 26 are in use.
π«: Suitable for filming take offs from 26L and 26R. Sometimes for late rotations of heavier aircrafts taking off from 08L and 08R.
π¬: Suitable for filming landings (near touch-down zone) on runways 26L and 26R.
π : Location is available at all times, in spite of that it is not recommended to be there during the night. Location allows for filming from early morning until noon in Summer and for all day in Winter.

π: This spot is located directly on Qumariq street not far from intersection with Obiraxmat street. Street is quite busy, But there is enough space to comfortably film landings on runways 08.

π : Location is available at all times and can be used at any time and season when runways 08L and 08R are used.

π: This location is suitable for arrivals on runways 26 in evenings from middle of Spring until September when using telephoto lens.

Friendly reminder. Import of any kinds of drones and/or radio transmitters (except mobile phones) into Uzbekistan is not permitted without a special allowance requested from authorities in advance.
Note, photography at military airbases and joint-use aerodromes is not allowed. We advice not to film and be near such facilities except for official public events, which are usually organized in late August. However, photographing aircrafts of Uzbekistan Air Force is allowed within limits of civil airports without any restrictions and even welcomed by the Ministry of Defense.
